Biography

Camilla Gomes, MS MD joined the UCSF Department of Surgery as a General Surgery resident in June 2020. She obtained her MD degree on April 2020 from the Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, MA.

Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Gomes took two years off to work as a Research Assistant in the Surgical Oncology Department at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she worked with surgeons and engineers on projects involving image-guided liver surgery, giving rise to her interest in bioengineering.
During medical school, her research focused mainly on oncologic and hepatopancreatobiliary conditions, such as Choledochal Cysts, the implications and outcomes of Partial Cholecystectomy procedures, and the socioeconomic characteristics of patients presenting the Emergency Department with previously undiagnosed malignancies.
